Jhye Richardson hopeful of recovering from his shoulder problems by the time cricket resumes

Jhye Richardson dislocated his shoulder during an ODI against Pakistan.

Jhye Richardson dislocated his shoulder during an ODI match against Pakistan | GettyAustralian pacer Jhye Richardson had burst onto the scene with much promise, dismissing Indian captain Virat Kohli three times in three ODI matches during the 2019 series down under. He continued to be one of the best rising stars.

However, his progress was stunted due to a career-threatening shoulder injury which he sustained against Pakistan, while fielding and which ruled him out of the game for six months, as he needed to have surgery on it to fix it.

Now as the world is hit by the Coronavirus pandemic and Australia emerges from a successful lockdown, Richardson is hopeful of recovering from his injury in time cricket season restarts. He had returned in time to play in the Big Bash League 2019-20 but has struggled with the injury still bothering him time and time again.

"It's a lengthy surgery but it does give him an opportunity now that we're not going to play until ... September, October, November or December ... he's obviously a chance with that,” Australia physio Alex Kountouris told News Corp in an interaction.

"All the ligaments become loose when you do dislocate and then the surgery essentially involves tightening things up. (The original injury) was nasty. He dived with a lot of force on his arm. It was something that was quite bad. It's probably not surprising he's had ongoing symptoms,” he further added.

At present, the Western Australian is in the mix as far as Australia's white-ball squads are concerned and he will be hoping to recover as soon as possible with an eye on making it to the T20 WC squad.
