Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma join 'I for India' fund raiser initiative

There are a lot of popular faces taking part in the initiative.

Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and batsman Rohit Sharma have taken part in the online concert to raise funds in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. Apart from these two India cricketers, popular tennis player Sania Mirza also joined the initiative. 

Actors, musicians, singers, sportspersons, and even business leaders have taken part in the initiative, 'I for India'.

The fundraiser concert on Facebook India is organized by GiveIndia. Donations through Facebook Fundraiser and UPI, the Indian payment system, will be matched by donors, including A.T.E Chandra Foundation, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Omidyar Network India, and Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies.

"Two weeks ago, we started work on India's biggest concert. To entertain people who are locked-down at home. To pay tribute to those who work on the frontlines while we work from home. And to raise funds for those who have no work and no home," a message from #IForIndia, the concert for our times, said.

Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, Mick Jagger, Will Smith, and Mindy Kaling are among the musicians to join the initiative. Among others to attend the concert include, Kohli's actress wife Anushka, Shah Rukh Khan, AR Rahman, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Aamir Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sophie Turner, and some more famous faces.
