India's cricket great Sachin Tendulkar turned 47 on Friday and received a birthday wish from none other than his successor Virat Kohli. The current India captain posted a picture and wished him on the occasion.

"Happy birthday to the man whose passion for the game of cricket has inspired many. Wishing you an amazing year ahead paaji. @sachintendulkar," Virat said.

Virat has great admiration for Sachin and he has admitted to the cricket legend's huge impact in his career. After the emotional speech of Tendulkar in his farewell match, Kohli had offered him an invaluable gift - threads given to a young Virat by his father. 

Kohli was told to give those threads to someone he respected and he picked Sachin. 

"If someone can inspire you like that and you end up becoming someone and you feel like there is no greater pleasure than that. So that (handing his father's threads over to Tendulkar) was just a gesture of thank you to the guy who has inspired me to do what I am doing. For me, the human connect is paramount.

"Incentives, gains ... these things do not matter to me. If someone is honest with me, that's what matters," Kohli had said on Aaj Tak.
