India’s limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma has on Wednesday (April 22) hailed his wife Ritika for her support over the years, saying she has been a “rock” for him.
Before becoming soulmates, Rohit and Ritika were good friends, but their friendship grew and turned into love, and eventually, the hitman had decided to make her life partner in 2015 and now they are one of the most adorable couples from the world of cricket.

The opening batsman further revealed that Ritika has always been there to support him and played a significant role in his cricketing career, saying “her presence around him” makes his job easier.
Rohit said, “She (Ritika) has been like a rock for me. She has always been there to support me to make sure that I get that comfort. I am actually at ease with all the support. With her being around, it makes my job easier. The best phase was during the World Cup, I had my family there. Personally, for me, I had a great World Cup. I was in a good space. We did everything right except reaching the final.”
The hitman added, “Ritika’s role has not just been in this little while. She has played a big part since I got to know her in 2008. She has played as a friend first, then girlfriend, wife and then a mother now. She has played a huge part in the entire cricket career that I have somehow or other.”
He also revealed how she made his daughter Samaira recognize him when he returned for the first time after she was born, adding: “It was very important Ritika realized once she got to know she was pregnant. She realized that her father will be traveling a lot and won’t be around much.”
Rohit signed off, “So what are the things that she can do. She put the accreditation card that we get around Samaira’s cat. So that every time she wakes she sees that photo so that she realizes that this photo has always been there, so it has to be someone important. This is just one example, Ritika has done so many things like this to make sure Samaira doesn’t feel she’s not always around her dad.”
