Virat Kohli among Nasser Hussain's four players he would pay to watch

Kohli has been outstanding for India across formats and is one of the modern-day greats.

Virat Kohli | GettyNasser Hussain, the former England captain and renowned commentator, heaped effusive praise over India skipper Virat Kohli after enlisting him among four batsmen in the history of the game that he would pay to watch.

"Virat Kohli in a 50-over run chase. He just seems to chase down any score every time," Hussain told Daily Mail in a question-answer session.

"Virat Kohli is not worried about stats and the only stats he is worried about is the win/loss column," the 52-year-old had recently said.

Next in Hussain's list is former Pakistan opener Saeed Anwar, who played 55 Tests and 247 ODIs for his nation, and is regarded as one of the best.

"In terms of being easy on the eye, Saeed Anwar had an elegance and grace through the off-side," he said.

Hussain was part of a lot of contests versus West Indies where England found dismissing Brian Lara an extremely difficult task. "I've been watching some old footage of Brian Lara with that big back-lift and, wow, could he bat," said Hussain, hailing the Prince of Trinidad as the toughest batsmen to plan for.

"I didn't captain against him much but I have to say Brian Lara. Poor Mike Atherton would move a fielder and Lara would almost take the mickey and hit it in the gap where the fielder had been."

Last but certainly not the least, David Gower, his "childhood hero", completed Hussain's list.

Gower played 117 Tests for England and scored 8,231 runs at an average of 44.2, including 18 hundreds.

"I have to go for my childhood hero David Gower. I remember an early game against Leicestershire and I was at cover point as he leant on one and before I could move it hit the boundary boards behind me. Everything I had admired was there in front of my eyes," he said.
