Yuvraj, Rohit urge India and Pakistan fans to not criticize their players too much

Yuvraj and Rohit had a long chat session on Instagram.

With most countries going into lockdown, closing borders and issuing travel restrictions to contain the spread of virus, cricket has also come to a grinding halt.

Amid the crisis, India opener Rohit Sharma hosted an Instagram live session with former teammate Yuvraj Singh. They discussed all things related to cricket, life and how they are dealing with the complete lockdown.

However, the one particular moment that grabbed everyone’s attention was when the duo made a special request to the fans of India and Pakistan to not scrutinize players too much after a bad day on the field.

Yuvraj spoke about how fans get very personal when it comes to an India-Pakistan encounter. He urged the fans to have some patience with their players.

“Big example is India and Pakistan game. Everyone gets personal about their country but the point is you have to think about the players,” Yuvi stated. “Everybody is giving their 100 per cent on the field and only one team is going to win. Sometimes the opposition is going to win and sometimes you are going to win. People from both countries need to have more patience towards their players.”

The southpaw then went on to say that India has won more matches against the arch-rivals in the World Cups because they have handled pressure well. Similarly, he pointed out Pakistan’s dominance for having a better side in the earlier decades.

“Obviously, the Indian team has won most matches in the championships because we have handled pressure in a better way. Similarly, Pakistan in the earlier decade was a much better team who did the same”, Yuvraj added.

Rohit endorsed each and every word of Yuvraj and appealed the fans of both sides to enjoy the match rather than taking things personally.

“I agree. This thing is important and whenever we get the opportunity we try to tell our fans about it,” Sharma said. “We understand that you want your team to win and we try our best to win, but the other team is also playing and they will also try to win, so winning and losing is part of the game.

“But the thing is people should not write off players saying he is playing really badly and throw him out of the team. Fans should just enjoy the game and let authorities do what they are supposed to do,” he further remarked.
