Young Rohit Sharma reminded me of Inzamam-ul-Haq, recalls Yuvraj Singh

Rohit made his international debut in 2007.

Rohit Sharma | GettyFormer India batsman Yuvraj Singh recently asserted that Rohit Sharma’s playing style reminded him of Pakistan batting legend Inzamam-ul-Haq when the Mumbaikar first time broke into the national side way back in 2007.

"I think when he came into the Indian team, he looked like somebody who had a lot of time. He reminded me of Inzamam-ul-Haq, because, when he batted, Inzi had a lot of time (to play the bowlers)," Yuvraj said in Gaurav Kapur’s Youtube chat show Isolation Premier League.

Fondly known as ‘Hitman’ for his remarkable ball-striking ability, Rohit is widely regarded as one of the most elegant batsmen in contemporary cricket.

Sharma boasts quite a few world records to his name. He is the proud owner of the highest individual ODI score — 264 (against Sri Lanka in 2014). Moreover, he is the only batsman in the history of cricket to have scored three ODI double tons and four Twenty20 international centuries.

During his 13-year long cricket career thus far, Rohit has amassed 9115 ODI runs in 224 matches at an average and strike-rate of 49.27 and 88.92 respectively. He also has 29 ODI tons and 6 Test tons to his name. Rohit has also played a key role in India’s 2007 ICC World T20I triumph and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy title win.

Meanwhile, IPL 2020 remains suspended until at least April 15 in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. If the 13th edition of Indian Premier League takes place, Rohit will be seen in action, leading the defending champions Mumbai Indians in the cash-rich tournament.
