Mickey Arthur rubbished Mohammad Hafeez’s claims of favouritism by saying that he wanted "match-winners" in his team.

Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez had accused former coach Mickey Arthur of being given too many powers and indulging in favouritism as he used to get whatever good or bad he wanted.

Hafeez had claimed, “Whatever Mickey wanted, whether it was good or bad, it was done. He was given a lot of powers which the other coaches lacked. There was also double standards and favouritism during his time.

However, Arthur rubbished any such activities during his tenure as Pakistan coach and instead snapped back at Hafeez saying that he used to stay in his comfort zone. The Australian is now the coach of the Sri Lanka cricket team and still believes in picking ‘match winners’ in his side.

Arthur said, “When I was the Pakistan coach I gave more importance to those players who were professional and winning us matches. I have always preferred match-winners.”

“I did not like players who would rather stay in their comfort zones. Such cricketers have always hurt Pakistan cricket,” he added.
