Indian batsman Rohit Sharma who last played in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand before getting ruled out of the rest of the tour due to his calf injury in the final T20I of the series, recently mentioned that he was really excited to get back to playing cricket.

But with a three-week lockdown being announced in the country to tackle this Coronavirus pandemic, Rohit will have to wait to make a comeback.

While talking to former England skipper Kevin Pietersen on Instagram live, Sharma revealed that he is using the stairs of his building to stay fit.

Rohit Sharma reveals the saddest moment of his cricketing career

It’s very hard actually (to stay fit). I live in a building which has about 54 floors and we had to stop all the indoor and outdoor activities. So just been running up and down the stairs. Not 54 floors but about two or three floors up and down and doing some conditioning exercises here and there,” the 32-year-old said.

Due to this Coronavirus outbreak, all the cricketing activities were also affected like the 13th edition of IPL which was scheduled to begin from 23 March was postponed to 15 April. Rohit who was really looking forward to playing the IPL will now have to wait for more.

I was injured for two months so have been itching to play. When I got the news that everything was going to be postponed I was very sad. I definitely miss playing the game.  I was really looking forward to playing in the IPL,” the right-hander said.

The Mumbai based batsman then praised fellow citizens for taking the lockdown seriously by saying, “Regardless of all that, the safety of the country and the whole world is important. And I can see that there is a lot of discipline in the country. In India, I can see that people have been disciplined in the lockdown.
