Sourav Ganguly pledges to donate INR 50 lakh worth of rice for the underprivileged

CAB donated 25 lakhs towards the West Bengal government’s emergency relief fund.

The recent Coronavirus outbreak has affected a lot of people and as a precautionary measure, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown to stop the spread of this virus across the country.

The BCCI president and former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has decided to help the underprivileged with rice worth 50 lakh along with Lal Baba Rice, said the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) in a statement.

Hope this initiative of Ganguly would encourage other citizens of the state to take up similar initiatives to serve the people of our state,” the statement from the company said.

The CAB itself will also be donating funds worth 25 lakh towards the West Bengal government’s emergency relief fund to help combat this pandemic.

The nation will be under complete lockdown with around 600 confirmed cases of this virus with 10 deaths. On a global scale, more than 4,00,000 people are affected by this pandemic with the death toll being around 17,000.
