Iran is among the most affected countries by the Coronavirus pandemic at the moment. The Western Asian country has recorded more than 21000 positive cases and lost nearly 1700 lives due to COVID-19 as of Monday (March 23).

Amid the chaos, Madhya Pradesh cricketer Anand Rajan’s father is currently stuck in Iran. As an Indian citizen, this is certainly not an ideal time to be stranded in foreign countries as the government has banned entry of international flights to contain the spread of virus.
However, Anand – who has played 8 IPL games for Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the past – is hopeful that the government will evacuate his father soon.
“As Indian government has brought back many Indians from Iran, I am hoping father comes back too,” he told The Indian Express.
Notably, the Indian government has evacuated its citizens from Iran, Japan, Milan and other parts of the world and kept them under isolation on return.
“My father told me that the embassy will only clear travel of those people whose medical examination they conduct by themselves. I was told that the embassy doesn’t have the necessary medical kit to deal with this, so time is running out. With no international flights allowed for next one week, we don’t know what will happen,” the medium-pacer added.
Last week, Anand Rajan had also tweeted to the embassy in Iran. However, he hasn’t got a response so far.
“I tweeted to the Indian Embassy in Tehran, they said they will get in touch with my father but nobody got in touch till Saturday. At the moment he is fine and is staying inside his house in Qazvin which is some two hours’ drive from Tehran. Back at home here there is some fear in our family as you can understand,” he said.
