Bangladesh Cricket Board to implement work from home to tackle Coronavirus outbreak

The recent outbreak of COVID-19 or commonly known as coronavirus has affected this year’s sporting calendar badly. A lot of tournaments were postponed or some were played behind closed doors. Apart from these activities, a lot of offices were also advised to remain closed until 31 March.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday announced that it will follow the work from home policy due to this COVID-19.

In response to the evolving COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, the BCB has instructed its staff to work remotely until further notice from Sunday (22 March 2020),” a statement from BCB said.

Exceptions will be made only for work that cannot be executed effectively outside the office environment,” it added.

The cricket board had planned a two-match T20I series between Asia XI and World XI which were scheduled on 21 and 22 March to celebrate the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of Bangladesh.

The World Health Organization had deemed this coronavirus as a pandemic and has advised everyone to stay home as a precautionary measure while the death toll across the globe goes over 11,000 with as many as 2,75,000 people infected.
