England cricketer Alex Hales had returned back to his home leaving the Pakistan Super League 2020 midway after the threat of the deadly coronavirus became too much to ignore. Apart from him, more than 10 players from the UK, including a coach came back home.
Pakistan reported 194 cases of positive coronavirus cases as on March 17, 2020, with 10 new cases. The pandemic has affected more than 185,000 people worldwide and more than 7,400 people have died so far.
The Pakistan Cricket Board had reported that a foreign player had shown symptoms of COVID-19 and had returned home. They had called off the remaining matches, which included two semi-finals of PSL 5 which were to be played on March 17 in Lahore. The PCB had not named the player, but Rameez Raja revealed that it was Alex Hales.
Though it was later clarified that Hales had self-quarantined himself as per government advisory, his management agency has now released a statement on his behalf that on Sunday, the cricketer woke up with a fever and self-isolated himself. However he has developed a dry and persistent cough, and though he has not been tested yet, he will be undergoing the same in order to get confirmation of his health status.
