“Stop spreading fake news,” Alex Hales slams a Pakistani journalist sharing article about him contracting COVID-19

Alex Hales has placed himself into self-isolation on return to UK.

Alex HalesThe PCB had to call off the PSL 5 with the two semi-finals to be played on March 17 it was reported that one foreign player had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. The board had not revealed the name of the player but had said that he had returned home.

However, commentator Rameez Raja and Gulf News had reported that the said foreign player was England and Karachi Kings opener Alex Hales, who was now in quarantine in London, UK. This spread like a piece of wild news, which was later turned out to be fake. Rameez Raja even clarified that Hales had not been tested for coronavirus so far and had put himself in isolation.

However, Alex Hales was not happy with the fake news being spread and slammed Dunya News journalist Ajmal Jami on sharing such news without verification. Though Jami deleted the tweet sharing the Gulf News article, a screenshot was available of the same.

Apart from Hales, Jason Roy, Tymal Mills, Liam Dawson, Liam Livingstone, Lewis Gregory, and James Vince, West Indian Carlos Braithwaite, South African Rilee Russouw and James Foster (coach) had also earlier returned to their countries. New Zealand pacer Mitchell McClenaghan was placed in mandatory 14-day self-quarantine on return to his home as well.
