The Hundred franchise Trent Rockets have confirmed their captains for both man’s and women’s teams on Friday (March 13) for the first edition of England’s newest competition.
Somerset captain and England all-rounder Lewis Gregory has been confirmed as Trent Rockets men's team captain while England Women all-rounder Natalie Sciver was named Rockets' women's team captain.

Gregory made his England debut last November in the T20I series against New Zealand, since then, he has been a busy cricketing figure, as then he flew to play in the Bangladesh Premier League, captained the England Lions on their recent tour to Australia.
He is currently playing in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2020 for Peshawar Zalmi in Pakistan.
Stephen Fleming, Trent Rockets men's team head coach, said of Gregory’s appointment: “Lewis has all the attributes required to skipper our side this year.”
He further added, “I'm confident he'll get the best out of our talented squad. He's got a good temperament on the field and works well with his players to achieve results. He's also one of the best white-ball all-rounders in the country, who will add a huge amount to the team.”

Meanwhile, Salliann Briggs, the Nottingham-based Trent Rockets women's team head coach, hailed the appointment of Sciver who had a fine outing the recent Women's T20 World Cup where she managed three half-centuries in four innings for England in Australia.
The third-ranked T20 player in the world recently led Surrey Stars to the Kia Super League title in 2018 and will captain Australia’s Elyse Villani and Sophie Molineux in The Hundred.
Briggs said of Sciver: “I've known Nat for a long time since her early years in the sport, so I can't wait to work with her again now she's one of the world's best players. She has impressed as a captain in domestic competitions before and I have full confidence she'll get the best out of the squad in The Hundred. Her international experience in one of the world's best short-format teams will undoubtedly help our chances of success this year.”

On the other hand, New Zealand Women captain Sophie Devine has also been confirmed as Birmingham Phoenix captain. She will bring her 196 international caps experience to the Phoenix side. The cricketer has plenty of experience of playing in England having played for Loughborough Lightning and Yorkshire Diamonds in the Kia Super League besides Warwickshire women in 2017 and 2018.
Devine had a fantastic Women's Big Bash League season, as she finished as the Player of the Tournament for her all-round show – 769 runs and 19 wickets for Adelaide Strikers.
Ben Sawyer, Birmingham Phoenix women head coach, was confident that White Ferns captain will do a terrific job for the team in the Hundred. She added, “Sophie was the first international player we selected for Birmingham Phoenix and I've always admired the way she goes about her game. She's an outstanding bowler and her batting is just as good, as demonstrated in the recent Women's Big Bash League where she reinforced her position as one of the world's best.”
Sawyer signed off by saying, “Having seen a lot of her with New Zealand, it's clear that she is a natural leader and her experience in the international arena, and with Warwickshire, makes her the ideal candidate to lead Birmingham Phoenix. I have no doubt that she will do a great job.”
