NZ v IND 2020: Ravindra Jadeja explains his superhuman catching effort

Ravindra Jadeja took an outstanding catch fielding off deep square leg on Day 2 in Christchurch.

Jadeja's superhuman effort left everyone surprised | GettyIndian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja produced yet another moment of magic in the field on Day 2 of the second Test in Christchurch, taking an excellent, one-handed catch at deep square leg of New Zealand tailender Neil Wagner.

Jadeja leapt and grabbed the ball with his left hand to Wagner's shock and even the Indian players' disbelief.

His superhuman effort stole the limelight and deservingly so as the catch also helped end a very crucial 51 runs ninth-wicket partnership between Wagner and his more capable lower-order partner Kyle Jamieson

Mohammad Shami delivered the bouncer that Wagner couldn't hold himself back from attacking but the pacer gave all the credit for that wicket to Jadeja, who talked about his marvellous effort at the end of the innings.

"I knew he would play a shot there," India Today quoted him as saying. "I was waiting at fine leg but I didn't know that the ball would come at double pace. I just put my hands there and it stuck."

Jadeja also got a couple of important wickets on the day with his left-arm spin as India eventually dismissed New Zealand for 235, taking a slender seven-run lead, having posted a modest first-innings total of 242 on the board.
