Fast-bowling legend and cricket commentator Wasim Akram wasn’t really pleased with Mohammad Amir's axing for the recently concluded T20I series against Bangladesh, as he criticized Pakistan selectors for dropping the experienced pacer for his personal decision to retire from Test cricket.

There were reports on the social media that Amir was dropped from Pakistan’s T20I squad because he has retired from Test cricket and even Akram had previously criticized the pacer for retiring from Tests at the age of 27.

However, the legendary Pakistan cricketer could not understand the motive behind Amir’s axing as he felt it was unfair to drop the veteran bowler just because he is no longer part of the test format while criticizing the Pakistan Cricket Board’s decision to overlook him for the Bangladesh T20I series.

As per reports in Pakpassion.net, Wasim said of Amir: “As someone who has been connected with cricket, and as a commentator, I would say that it’s beyond me why they dropped Mohammad Amir from the T20I squad (for Bangladesh series).”

He continued, “If what people on Social Media are saying about Amir that he didn’t play Test cricket, so he was dropped then that’s wrong. If he doesn’t want to play Test cricket, then that’s the end of it but he should not be dropped from the T20I team.”

Akram signed off by saying, “If you talk about going by present form and we picked Haris Rauf because he did well in Big Bash League; In the same way, Amir performed well in the Bangladesh Premier League taking 6 wickets in one game. So it didn’t make sense to drop him; Our young bowlers have talent but in the World Cup (T20) you will need experience also.”
