England, Australia will now think twice before giving India seaming tracks: MSK Prasad

England, Australia will now think twice before giving India seaming tracks: MSK Prasad

Prasad talked up India's fast bowling transformation and is confident of world dominance.

The pacers have been magnificent for India in the last 20 months | GettyIndia's chief selector MSK Prasad says building a fast bowling culture was a collective endeavour of everyone involved in the system and the country now has a robust bowling line-up that shall "scare" the rest of the world.

Prasad specifically pointed out, Virat Kohli & company might not have to encounter the green seaming tracks they've often had overseas because the oppositions would be wary of India's pace attack.

While India lost its last series in South Africa and England, the team bounced back with victories in Australia and West Indies.

"We wanted to build a team that can win across formats and the world," Prasad told Sportstar. "To some extent, we could do that in Australia. The results in South Africa and England didn’t go in our favour but the way we fought, it could have been anybody's game."

"We have built a winning culture and today no team - England, New Zealand or Australia - will give seaming tracks to us. That is the scare we have given to the world," he added.

Prasad is also pleased with the back-ups available for the likes of Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. "What is more heartening is we have a healthy bench-strength with the likes of Navdeep Saini and Mohammed Siraj waiting in the wings," he said.

"The bench-strength that we have developed will be our legacy. I am sure the bench-strength we have will last the next six to seven years. We have enough ammunition across formats to take Indian cricket to the top."

The former India Test cricketer also backed youngsters in Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant to comeback stronger into the mix. While Shaw was handed an eight-month ban for doping violation and has just recently started playing again, Pant was replaced by Wriddhiman Saha as the team's first-choice wicketkeeper-batsman this season.

"Everyone knows what he (Shaw) is capable of doing. We have been following him and he has done well since his comeback. With lots of First-Class cricket coming up now, we will keep a close look and by the time the New Zealand series comes up, I am sure he will be in good shape to stake a claim."

"With Rishabh, we keep talking to him regularly and we are making sure he is in a good space. Unfortunately, he is going through a rough phase but he is full of talent and he will only go up the ladder from this low period," Prasad concluded.
