Pakistan batsman Babar Azam has been made the vice-captain of the team and he has become angrier since then according to skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed.

The Pakistan cricket team had a topsy turvy couple of weeks as the Sri Lankan side toured the country after a span of 10 long years. They won the ODI series 3-0 and then lost the T20I series 3-0. The whitewash in the shorter format was far from the expectations of any cricket follower in the world. Given that the ‘Men in Green’ were ranked No. 1, losing 3-0 to Sri Lanka was certainly something out of the blue.

Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is seen getting frustrated and angry in such situations when their players are not playing according to expectations. This is when Babar Azam used to cool him down from the slips. Since becoming the deputy, Babar also gets angry a lot more than before.

Sarfaraz said on a video channel, “Babar has been recently announced vice-captain, so what used to happen was when I used to get a bit angry, Babar who stood alongside at slips used to calm me down, but since he has become the vice-captain himself, Babar tells me that he gets much angrier”.

The 32-year-old skipper has been under the pump lately for not matching the fitness levels required in international cricket. Pakistan coach and national selector Misbah-ul-Haq has seen to it that the fitness is an aspect that all players give attention to. He had also mentioned about a month ago that Sarfaraz was working on his diet and has become fit.

It seems that I have almost stopped eating and am now following a strict protein diet alongside eating some vegetables as well,” Sarfaraz said on the issue.

He was also questioned about Pakistan not giving chances to new players against Sri Lanka. He mentioned that they are also an international team and cannot be taken lightly.
