India’s latest batting sensation Hanuma Vihari has been in the limelight since his exceptional outing in West Indies and for which he has got a lot of applause from former greats and now the middle-order batsman has added another fan to his list and he is none other than Sachin Tendulkar.

Having made most of the opportunity he got in England and Australia to seal a regular spot in India’s Test playing XI, the flamboyant batsman topped the charts with 289 runs against the West Indies in 2 matches and played a big role as the visitors decimated the hosts in the Test series in August.

Tendulkar was highly impressed by Vihari’s shot selection, calmness, and temperament, saying he likes his approach to the game which makes him a different player.

Of course, the 25-year-old needs more such knocks to cement his place in the national team, but he would certainly like to go on to make it big by delivering consistently and legendary batsman reckons the Andhra batsman is the someone to whom India can look for future.

As per reports in Hindustan Times, Tendulkar said: “You need to play Test cricket differently and the real skill is tested on good bowler-friendly tracks and he has gone out and shown an ideal temperament.”

The legend continued, “Vihari has been smart in selecting the right shots to play at the right time. I have been impressed by his calmness, temperament as well as the ability to absorb pressure. In Test cricket, various aspects are going to be tested and if you are sure of those things, your body language is different, which I saw in him.”

Meanwhile, he also commented on the ongoing ICC World Test championship which began with Ashes 2019, adding: “Ashes was an example we got to see everything. Quality batting, top-notch fast bowling, and spinners also in play. There were players, who were attacking and there were players who are leaving the balls as well. Those elements shouldn’t disappear from Test cricket.”

Tendulkar signed off by saying, “Points and all that, the team would want to focus on the game and nothing else. But what points system does is to keep spectators’ engagement alive. If a team has won the first two Test matches, the third shouldn’t be a dead rubber. Players will always give their best but how do you keep spectators engaged and involved is also important.”
