Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are awaiting response from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on the upcoming limited-overs series later this September after the Islanders were advised to reassess the security situation in Pakistan following a terror attack warning on Wednesday (September 11).

The SLC said that the Sri Lankan Prime Minister's Office had advised the body to "reassess the situation" after it received "reliable information of a possible terrorist threat" against the national team during the upcoming six-match limited overs tour of Pakistan.

Sources close to the PCB revealed that the Sri Lankan cricket authorities had not shared any information till Thursday with the Pakistan board concerning their Prime Minister Office's warning that the tourists could be the target of a terror attack during the upcoming series.

A source told Press Trust of India, “The PCB is waiting for some response on the tour and unless intelligence is shared what can the PCB say how reliable it is. Yes, there have been background contacts but nothing definite has come out of it yet.”

Another source close to the developments revealed that the top PCB officials were concerned and a bit surprised at the Sri Lankan authorities that they are yet to share any information on the possible threat.

The PCB has made it clear it will not shift the series to a neutral venue.

Noteworthy, Sri Lanka are scheduled to play three ODIs in Karachi, followed by as many T20Is in Lahore between September 27 and October 9. It will be Islanders’ first long trip of Pakistan since the national team was attacked by terrorists during a Test match in Lahore in 2009.
