The West Indies Cricket Board hosted their seventh annual awards. Jason Holder, Shai Hope and Keemo Paul bagged the Player of the Year awards in the Test, ODI and T20I formats respectively.
Jason led from the front especially in the longest format in the past year. West Indies drew the three-match home Test series against Sri Lanka 1-1 and beat Bangladesh in the two-match Test series 2-0. The skipper scored 405 runs and picked up 21 wickets during that period. He will now be leading the side against India in a couple of Test matches.
Shai Hope, who was brilliant at the recent Cricket World Cup, won the ODI Player of the Year for scoring runs consistently throughout the past year. He impressed everyone with his average of 67.30 while scoring 875 runs in 2018. He also scored three fifties and three hundreds.
A young and fresh face at the international level, Keemo Paul, stood out for the Caribbean side in the T20I format in his debut year. He played 13 matches, scored 124 runs and picked up 17 wickets. For his performance, he was awarded the T20I Player of the Year.
