Afghanistan’s ace spinner Rashid Khan strengthened his position as a top T20I spinner in the latest released ICC rankings. Rashid bagged 8 wickets at a phenomenal average and economy rate of 6.12 and 4.45 respectively in Afghanistan’s 3-0 T20I series victory over Bangladesh at Dehradun.

Rashid gained a massive 54 points to finish with 813 rating points, 80 more than Pakistan’s Shadab Khan, who is placed at the second position. The 19-year-old has touched a career-high rating of 816 points after his remarkable bowling performance (4-0-12-4) in the second T20I against Bangladesh.

During the recently concluded Indian Premier League, Rashid had scalped 21 wickets in 17 matches at an incredible average and economy of 21.80 and 6.73 for the runners-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad. He had played an instrumental role in SRH’s dominance throughout the league phase. The Hyderabad based franchise had the league stage as the No.1 team, having won 9 out of their 14 matches, whereas Rashid finished the IPL 2018 campaign as the second highest wicket-taker.

Rashid’s compatriot, Mohammad Nabi, also made a significant improvement in the ICC T20I rankings for bowlers after scalping 4 wickets in 3 matches against Bangladesh. Nabi jumped 11 spots and accomplished a career-best eighth rank.

There has been no change of places in the ICC T20I Team Rankings with Afghanistan and Bangladesh retaining their eighth and tenth positions respectively. Afghanistan, however, have gained four points to reach 91 points while Bangladesh have lost five and are on 70. Pakistan are leading the T20I rankings table with 130 points followed by Australia (126 points) and India (123 points).
