Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has been ruled out of the upcoming Afghanistan T20 International series due to a foot injury on Tuesday (29 May).

Afghanistan and Bangladesh are scheduled to play a three-match T20I series in Dehradun from 3-7 June and Mustafizur requires around three to four weeks recovering from the injury and might be available for their upcoming Australian tour in July 2018.

Mustafizur, who was part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018, complained of pain after joining the national training camp last week, and then he had two consecutive tests that have revealed a crack on his left big toe.

As per reports in AFP, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) statement reads, “Subsequent tests have revealed a crack on his left big toe which will sideline him for a few weeks.”

While BCB senior physician Debashis Chowdhury said in the statement, “It takes around three to four weeks to recover from such injuries and therefore he can't play against Afghanistan.”

Mr. Chowdhury signed off by saying that Mustafizur is expected to start rehabilitation in two weeks.
