Today’s match between Delhi and Himachal Pradesh in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2018 saw one of the greatest and most brutal T20 innings played by Delhi’s Rishabh Pant.

Himachal batted first and scored 144/8 in 20 overs with Nikhil Gangta top scoring with 40 off 27 balls. Little did they know knew that the match will go down in history, as the 20-year-old Delhi opener Rishabh Pant tore apart the Himachal bowling and hit them to all corners of the Feroz Shah Kotla ground.

Pant opened with Gambhir, but Gambhir played the role of feeding Pant strike. Pant blew away the Himachal bowling attack to score a century in just 32 balls. This became the second fastest T20 hundred of all time, just behind Chris Gayle’s effort off 30 balls for RCB against PWI in IPL 2013.

Pant also became the owner of the fastest T20 century by an Indian batsman, as he broke Rohit Sharma’s record of his T20 century in 35 balls. Rohit had equaled the record of the fastest T20I century in 35 balls against Sri Lanka recently.

Pant hit 116* in 38 balls and hit 8 fours and 12 sixes; a total of 104 runs coming in boundaries. This inning bodes well for Pant who had an indifferent Ranji season but has found form in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Rishabh Pant was retained by his IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils and this comes as good news for his franchise, as the IPL 2018 nears.

Rishabh Pant made his T20I debut against England in February 2017 but fell off the radar of the selectors recently. This performance of his might put the selectors on notice again, that Rishabh Pant is back on the bashing the bowlers wagon.
