One of the most renowned commentators of the modern era, Harsha Bhogle, has recently named his dream T20 XI of 2017. Bhogle’s picks are certainly based on the elite performances displayed by cricketers in the shortest format of the game this year. Some of his choices may surprise you, but Harsha has given justification and reasoning for all the selection.

Since there have been only a few T20 international matches staged this year, Bhogle has to make most of the selection from the T20 leagues around the world. Let’s take a look at Harsha’s best possible XI of 2017 in the shortest format which he revealed in a video posted by Cricbuzz.

Top 3:

In the team, he included West Indies’ hard-hitting batsman Evin Lewis and England’s dazzling stroke player Alex Hales as his two openers. While Lewis has made 1125 runs this year in 31 innings at an average of over 40, Hales has scored 633 runs at an average of 37 in 19 innings.

Proteas batting maverick AB de Villiers has been shouldered with the responsibility to bat at the crucial No. 3 position. De Villiers has amassed 752 T20 runs at an average of 44.23 in 21 innings.

Middle order:

England’s dangerous wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler and South Africa’s big hitter David Miller also managed to impress Harsha Bhogle with their awe-inspiring showing in T20 cricket this year. In 40 T20 innings that Buttler has played this year, he has scored over a thousand runs at an average on the higher side of 20’s. On the other hand, Miller has aggregated over 700 runs in just 27 T20 innings.

The mighty Kieron Pollard made it to Bhogle’s dream T20 team at No. 6 while another West Indian Sunil Narine is the first choice bowler, who can do some serious damage with the bat as well.

With 74 T20 wickets to his name in 2017, Afghanistan’s spin sensation Rashid Khan also makes it to Harsha’s best T20 XI. From India, the dynamic pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar take the first two fast bowling spots whereas Pakistan‘s left-arm wizard Mohammed Amir is the third pacer in the team.

Harsha Bhogle’s XI:

Evin Lewis, Alex Hales, AB de Villiers, David Miller, Jos Buttler, Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Amir
