The IPL joint review meeting that was supposed to take place in Mumbai on October 15 has been rescheduled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The meeting was set for Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Taj Santacruz and included IPL team owners, their chief executives, broadcasters, and 13 state associations hosting matches.
However, the BCCI and IPL officials notified stakeholders of the postponement on Tuesday. It appears that the conference has been postponed indefinitely for the time being. The parties have not been informed of a new date.
The postponement of the meeting has come as a result of a felicitation function of Asian Games 2026 medallists by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 15. The Indian men's and women's teams, along with other Asian Games medallists, are anticipated to attend the event in New Delhi.
They are anticipated to be accompanied by senior BCCI executives. The BCCI stated in the letter that some stakeholders had asked for a postponement of the Prime Minister's meeting with the Asian Games medallists.
“This is to inform you that the meeting with the IPL Franchise Owners, CEOs, IPL Hosting State Associations, and Broadcasters, scheduled to be held on October 15, 2026, in Mumbai, has been postponed.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India is scheduled to felicitate the Indian men’s and women’s teams for their outstanding performances at the recently concluded 20th Asian Games on October 15, 2026, in New Delhi. Accordingly, BCCI officials will be required to attend the felicitation ceremony,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said in his Tuesday evening mail, as per Cricbuzz.
“Additionally, requests have been received from various stakeholders seeking a postponement of the meeting. In view of the above, and with a view to facilitating maximum participation in person, it has been decided to postpone the meeting. The revised date and venue will be communicated in due course,” Saikia further wrote, expressing regret for the “inconvenience this may cause and appreciating your understanding and cooperation.”
This felicitation ceremony will also mean that the Indian players will have to make an adjustment to their travel schedule. The Indian players will travel to the nation's capital on Thursday before heading to Bengaluru for the fifth and final T20I against the West Indies, which is set for October 17, rather than traveling straight to Bengaluru from Hyderabad following the fourth T20I on Wednesday (October 14).
