Legendary Indian batter Rohit Sharma talked about his understanding with Virat Kohli when the two batters are in the middle during an ODI match. He revealed that the duo keeps discussing which bowler to attack and which bowler to just defend.
The two players have retired from T20 and Test matches and are seen in the India jersey only every two to three months by participating in ODIs in a three-game series against the West Indies. In spite of numerous doubts about the fitness of Rohit and Kohli, the duo have silenced all these doubts by scoring runs consistently.
“The discussion is about what we can do. When we are batting together, we are discussing whom to attack, whom to take a single off, and what to do. Sometimes something happens in my leg, so I tell him, “Brother, run carefully; I am feeling something. So, he is understanding that way. And, you know, such conversations keep happening. So, it has been pretty fun. Nothing has changed from when we started to know," Rohit said while speaking to JioStar.
Discussion about Rohit and Kohli’s spot in the Indian team for the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia has been rife, as many experts and fans have shared their views about the same.
However, Rohit Sharma revealed that he doesn’t discuss the 2027 World Cup with Virat Kohli whenever they are together.
“No, no. He has been playing for so many years. Whether it is the ’27 World Cup or the ’23 World Cup, there is no need to explain it to him. The World Cup is the World Cup. And I am pretty sure that everyone who is going to be part of the team understands the importance of a World Cup. And especially Kohli. I mean, the one who has played the most World Cups, I think, in this team, is him," Rohit added.
Virat Kohli has won all three ICC white-ball tournaments, with the 2011 World Cup, the 2013 and 2025 Champions Trophy, and the 2024 T20 World Cup. Rohit Sharma, on the other hand, has won the 2007 and 2024 T20 World Cups and the 2013 and 2025 Champions Trophy, while the ICC World Cup trophy continues to elude him.
