India’s teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has made quite an impression in the latest update of the ICC players rankings on July 29, 2026. After his heroics in Zimbabwe, Sooryavanshi made a huge leap in the most recent ICC Men's T20I Batting Rankings, marking yet another significant milestone.
In the three-match T20I series, India easily defeated Zimbabwe, winning 3-0. Sooryavanshi was a standout batter, with 151 runs in three games, including 50 and 81. In the final T20I in Harare, he was selected Player of the Match and Player of the Series.
The 15-year-old rose a total of 230 places to find a new career-best rating in 48th position for T20I batters behind No. 1-ranked teammate Ishan Kishan at the top of the rankings for T20I batters.
Ishan Kishan himself collected his career-best T20I rating points, thanks to his brilliance batting in the second T20I in Harare, where he scored 81 runs and has risen to 916 points- third highest batting rating of all time behind teammate Abhishek Sharma (931 rating points) and England's Dawid Malan (919).
Kishan may now claim to have a higher lifetime batter rating than Indian players such as Suryakumar Yadav (912) and Virat Kohli (909).
Apart from Sooryavanshi and Kishan, Tilak Varma also moved to the sixth spot, and captain Shreyas Iyer jumped to the 24th spot.
Another Indian player who gained big, but in the ICC ODI rankings, was captain Shubman Gill, who returned to the no. 1 rank. Gill benefited from exceptional outings in the ODI series against England and the fact that New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell missed the BlackCaps’ recent series against West Indies.
Mitchell held the top spot since January 2026, but missing the West Indies cost him the spot. The New Zealander has slipped to the second spot. Gill has scored 188 runs in three ODIs in England.
India’s next assignment will be a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka that begins on August 15.
