Afghanistan will reportedly host India for three T20I games in September before the 2026 Asian Games, and Delhi will host the matches. Apparently, the series has been organized as preparations for both teams before the Asian Games.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium will host the three T20Is on September 13, 15 and 17 as per ESPNCricinfo.

Afghanistan has previously hosted numerous teams in Dehradun, Greater Noida, and Lucknow, but this will be their first time they’ll be hosting India in India. The Afghanistan team usually plays its home games in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as it lacks the necessary cricket infrastructure at home.

Recently, Afghanistan toured India for one Test and three ODIs in June, losing all the games. The series was played in very hot conditions, which drew criticism from many quarters.

The T20I series is slated to take place between India's Test tour of Sri Lanka and the Asian Games, which begin in Japan in late September.

For India, the series is scheduled between the Sri Lanka Test trip and the Asian Games, which begin in late September in Japan. The second Test against Sri Lanka is set to conclude on August 27, more than two weeks before the first T20I against Afghanistan. The Asian Games begin on September 24, a week after the third T20I.

Despite being the current T20 champions, India's recent white-ball performance has been subpar. India lost the T20I series in England by a 4-0 margin (one game was wiped out) shortly after losing the two T20Is to Ireland in Belfast in June. They subsequently lost the ODIs 2-1 to England.

Afghanistan haven't played any T20Is since the T20 World Cup earlier this year in India.
