
India’s 14-year-old batting star, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, headlined the ICC U19 World Cup 2026 team of the Tournament. India defeated England in the final of the U19 World Cup at Harare in Zimbabwe on February 6, 2026.
Sooryavanshi had starred with the bat, scoring 175 in 80 balls with 15 fours and 15 sixes, as India U19 posted 411/9 in 50 overs. In response, despite 115 by Caleb Fortuner, England U19 managed 311 runs and lost the final by 100 runs.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was named the Player of the Final and also the Player of the Tournament for his exploits. He was chosen as the opener for the ICC U19 World Cup Team of the tournament for his 439 runs at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49.
Sri Lanka’s Viran Chamuditha will partner him, as he scored 310 runs with two centuries in the tournament. Afghanistan’s Faisal Shinozada (435 runs with two centuries), England captain Thomas Rew (330 runs), was named the captain of the team of the tournament and also the wicket-keeper.
Australia captain Olivier Peake (234 runs with two centuries) and Ben Mayes (444 runs) completed the batting order of the team. India’s Kanishk Chouhan (113 runs and 7 wickets) and Afghanistan’s Nooristani Omarzai (14 wickets) were chosen to bolster the bowling unit.
West Indies spinner Vitel Lawes (10 wickets), Pakistan’s Ali Raza (13 wickets), and Manny Lumsden of England (16 wickets) summed up the bowling unit. Henil Patel of India was named the 12th man.
The ICC's selection panel was made up of Ian Bishop (Convenor), Lydia Greenway, Andy Flower, and Telford Vice.
