After hogging the headlines for his disgraceful conduct during the Asia Cup 2025 as head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Mohsin Naqvi might remain in the limelight till the end of year as two more continental events are scheduled to be hosted in November and December.
The first one, whose itinerary has already been unveiled, is the Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship 2025, a rebranded format of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup, being staged for quite some time now.
The 2025 edition of the Rising Stars Championship will take place in Doha, Qatar from November 14 to 23. The teams remain the same as Asia Cup 2025 and the groupings will also be the same. While teams from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Hong Kong form Group A, India and Pakistan are slotted in Group alongside UAE and Oman.
The high-octane India versus Pakistan clash is slated to be held on November 16. The arch-rivals could then meet in the final only as there is no Super Four stage in this tournament.
According to a Cricbuzz report, Test playing nations i.e. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will send their 'A' teams and UAE, Oman and Hong Kong will send their full strength units, for the competition, to be played in T20 format.
India’s squad for this tournament has reportedly been picked and youngsters like Vaibhav Suryavanshi feature in it. The squad is likely to be released by the BCCI in India in a day or two.
In December, the U-19 Asia Cup will be played, once again in the gulf region most probably, although there is no confirmation as of now. However, one thing is confirmed that it will be held in 50-over format.
