IPL 2018: Preity Zinta clarifies her ill-remarks over Mumbai Indians’ elimination from IPL 11

Zinta has taken a sly dig at Mumbai Indians after their elimination from IPL 2018 on Sunday.

Kings XI Punjab owner Preity Zinta on Monday (May 21) clarified her stance over a controversial video in which she was heard saying, “I am very happy that Mumbai is knocked out of IPL”.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Zinta made it clear that she uttered those words only for the sake of her team as Mumbai’s defeat had given them a sniff to qualify for the playoffs.

Relax ! Only if Mumbai was “Knocked Out” Punjab would have had a chance of getting to the play offs but RR was happier we were Knocked out by CSK cuz they got to go to the playoffs !  When you leave it till the end one has to not just see your wins but other teams losses as well,” Preity Zinta wrote on her official Twitter page.

During the clash between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings on Sunday (May 20) night, Preity’s 10-second long video went viral wherein she was seen laughing while mincing the words: “I am just very happy that Mumbai is not going to the finals. Really happy”.

Here’s the video:

Meanwhile, KXIP suffered a heart-wrenching 5-wicket defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings in Pune last night. This loss also diminished Punjab’s hopes to go through to the next stages despite having a stellar start to their campaign this season.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Punjab-based franchise had started their IPL 2018 campaign with a bang. They were placed at the second spot after the halfway stage, having won 5 out of their first 6 matches.

However, things went downhill for them thereafter as they managed to claim only one win in their next 8 matches. KXIP eventually finished the season at No. 7 with 12 points from 14 games.
