The IPL 2025 final saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) end their jinx with a maiden IPL title win at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3. RCB defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs in the IPL 2025 final.
Shreyas Iyer of PBKS won the toss and chose to bowl first. Virat Kohli’s 43 was the top score for RCB as they were kept tied down by some excellent bowling by PBKS. Rajat Patidar (26), Liam Livingstone (25) and Mayank Agarwal, and Jitesh Sharma, both with 24 each, were the next best scorers.
Kyle Jamieson and Arshdeep Singh both picked up three wickets each for PBKS.
PBKS openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh couldn’t get the team off to the flying start they have often given. Arya (24) and Prabhsimran (26) tried their best, while Josh Inglis, with 39 in 23 balls, was the one to give the impetus.
However, RCB bowlers bowled tight lines and didn’t let the PBKS batters tee off. Shashank Singh managed 61* with 6 sixes and 3 fours as PBKS managed 184/7 in 20 overs.
As PBKS needed 29 runs in 4 balls in the final over, Virat Kohli knew that the wait was finally over, and he couldn’t stop tears flowing from his eyes. It was an emotional moment for the ace cricketer who has waited 18 years for this moment, and it showed in his eyes.
