As the IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) takes place on June 3, Tuesday night at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the spotlight has unexpectedly switched to an unlikely supporter: Canadian rapper Drake.
Drake posted a huge USD 750,000 (about Rs 6.4 crore) wager on RCB to win their first IPL title on Instagram the night before the highly awaited summit match.
With odds of 1.75, the wager, placed through the cryptocurrency betting site Stake, would provide the rapper more than USD 1.3 million (about Rs 11 crore) if Rajat Patidar's team wins.
Fans all across the world were intrigued but confused when he tagged the photo with the now-iconic RCB motto, "Ee Sala Cup Namde."
In their fourth final appearance, RCB is attempting to win their first IPL championship. Despite never having taken home the championship, Virat Kohli's incredible play—he has amassed over 600 runs this season—has raised expectations. In their second final since 2014, PBKS, under the leadership of the comeback Shreyas Iyer, are as eager to win their first championship.
