Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi took the IPL by storm last week as he became the youngest-ever centurion in the tournament’s history.

The 14-year-old raced to his maiden IPL ton in just 35 balls, paving the way for RR’s eight-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in the chase of 210. The southpaw eventually scored 101 off 38 deliveries before being dismissed by Prasidh Krishna.

Suryavanshi’s whirlwind knock was studded with seven boundaries and 11 sixes as his fireworks left the fans, experts and cricket fraternity in awe.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s brilliance also caught the attention of former England captain Michael Vaughan, who discussed the prospect of the youngster making his international debut.

Legendary Sachin Tendulkar currently holds the record for being the youngest Indian debutant in men's cricket, having played his first international match at the age of 16 years and 205 days against Pakistan in 1989.

While Vaughan backed Suryavanshi to beat Tendulkar’s record, he also advised caution by saying that there is no need for India to “rush” the teenager into international cricket.

“They got to be very careful. India play that much white-ball cricket that it can overlap with the Test team at times. There will be opportunities. My advice would be, do not rush him. Just let him play,” Vaughan told the Club Prairie Pire Podcast.

“IPL is a lot of pressure enough, just let him enjoy for a while. We are all going to see him play for India, it's just a case of whether he will be 14, 15, or 16. I've a feeling he will probably beat Sachin's record to play for India. But I wouldn't be rushing him,” he added.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi has featured in four IPL matches so far, registering scores of 34, 16, 101 and 0. He will be next seen in action during RR’s match against KKR at the Eden Gardens on May 4.
