Akash Madhwal of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) was seen on Thursday congratulating Rohit Sharma and his wife Ritika Sajdeh with folded hands following their IPL 2025 match against the Mumbai Indians (MI).

MI advanced to the playoffs after defeating RR by 100 runs and rising to first place in the IPL points table. Madhwal made his IPL debut under Rohit's leadership and impressed throughout the 2023 season. However, he struggled to find game time last season and was released by MI before the IPL 2025 big auction, where RR bought him for Rs 1.2 crore.

Madhwal, who made his first outing for RR this season on Thursday, was wicketless against his previous team. In a viral video, Madhwal briefly conversed with Rohit on the sidelines of the post-match presentation.

Rohit then pointed to his wife, Ritika, who was in the grandstand, and Madhwal greeted her with folded hands. Ritika smiled as she waved at the child. After chatting, Rohit autographed Madhwal's shirt on a lovely occasion.

Madhwal also requested Rohit Sharma to sign his RR jersey, and the MI legend obliged by doing so.

During the encounter in Jaipur, Rohit became only the second player in IPL history to reach 6,000 runs for a single side.

Rohit is second on the list with 6024 runs for MI, trailing only Virat Kohli, who has 8871 runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Rohit batted brilliantly, scoring 53 off 36 balls before being bowled by Riyan Parag. His innings included nine boundaries. This was his third fifty in the ongoing Indian Premier League.
