Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become a household name at the age of 14 years, thanks to his explosive batting in the ongoing IPL 2025. Playing for Rajasthan Royals (RR), Suryavanshi became the youngest batter to score a century in IPL, when he struck 101 off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT), on April 28, in Jaipur.
Suryavanshi reached his maiden IPL ton in 35 balls and hit 11 sixes and 7 fours in his knock. This was the fastest hundred in IPL by an Indian and the second fastest overall. Vaibhav also became the youngest ever to score a century in men’s T20s and competitive limited-overs matches.
However, before being bought by RR in the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 1.10 crores, Suryavanshi faced an uncertain future during 2021. Aged 10, Vaibhav had to shift from the grounds in Bihar to a makeshift facility on the terrace of his home.
With no cricket grounds open and no formal instruction available, young Vaibhav Suryavanshi would spend many hours refining his shots against cricket balls and fantasizing about wearing an IPL shirt one day.
Without the benefit of world-class academies or premium training facilities in his early years, Vaibhav's terrace sessions established the groundwork for the bold, strong, and instinctual batting style that now has the world in awe.
In a video that has gone viral, little Vaibhav can be seen constantly practicing on his rooftop, developing the abilities that would one day shred the best bowling attacks in the world.
