The 42nd match of the IPL 2025 saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hosting Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 24, 2025. RR captain Riyan Parag won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Phil Salt (26) and Virat Kohli gave a quick start to RCB, adding 61 in 6.4 overs. Then Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal (50, 4 fours, and 3 sixes) added 95 runs for the second wicket. After Padikkal’s dismissal, Kohli also got out soon after for 70 with 8 fours and 2 sixes.
But RCB got a good finish thanks to Jitesh Sharma’s 20* and Tim David’s 23 runs, as they made 205/5 in 20 overs. Sandeep Sharma picked up 2 wickets for RR.
In response, Yashasvi Jaiswal (49, 7 fours, and 3 sixes) and Nitish Rana (28), along with Riyan Parag (22), kept RR in the hunt concerning the required run rate. But the RCB spinners, particularly Krunal Pandya, did well with 2/31 in his 4 overs.
RR needed a strong finish to get to the target, and Dhruv Jurel (47, 3 fours, and 3 sixes) and Shubham Dubey tried, with a 22-run over off Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Josh Hazlewood’s brilliant death overs bowling denied RR a win, as they finished with 194/9 in 20 overs.
Josh Hazlewood picked 4/33, apart from Krunal, as RCB won the game by 11 runs.
With this win, RCB moved to third place in the IPL 2025 points table with 6 wins from 9 games and 12 points to their name. RR slipped to 8th place with only 2 wins from 9 games and 4 points.
The cricket fraternity was all praiseful of a brilliant RCB display and praised the team on social media for their win.
