Jitesh Sharma, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper batsman, is loving working with his batting coach and mentor, Dinesh Karthik, who is training him to be a 360-degree player.
Jitesh was purchased by RCB for a record INr 11 crore in the mega-auction before the season, and he has made some noteworthy cameos this season.
The 31-year-old struck a quickfire 40* (19) in the previous match against Mumbai Indians (MI), assisting his team to a big score of 221/5 in 20 overs.
Sharma recently discussed what has changed for him this season, revealing that he has been training hard under Dinesh Karthik, who wants to see him develop into a new talent.
"It's been a great journey till now because in the off-season, I really worked hard with him. I think whichever shot that I am playing right now is the replica of what he used to play. He is trying to create a new player in me," said Jitesh in the pre-match press conference.
Furthermore, Sharma stated that he has added several new shots to his repertoire and is excited to use them all in the middle.
"He believes in me that I can play all around the circle — 360 angles. I am really enjoying myself in my new role. While I am playing those shots, I am very happy because I have never tried those shots, and I have all the backing. The process is still on," he added.
Jitesh Sharma also played a fantastic innings of 33 (21) against the Gujarat Titans, rescuing his team from a critical position of 42/4. He scored 52 runs off 38 balls alongside Liam Livingstone before being removed. In three innings this season, Sharma has scored 85 runs at an average of 42.50 and a strike rate of 184.78.
RCB will next face Delhi Capitals (DC) at home on Thursday.
