Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi has impressed one and all with his exploits in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
However, the 25-year-old has already been fined twice for his 'notebook celebration'. Two demerit points have also been added to his name.
Despite the punishment, Rathi hasn’t given up on this celebration. On Tuesday (April 8), the leg-spinner celebrated KKR opener Sunil Narine’s wicket with a little tweak in the notebook gesture. This time around, he didn’t go anywhere close to the batter and signed on the grass instead.
Here’s the video:
Ahead of LSG’s match against KKR at the Eden Gardens, Digvesh Singh Rathi explained the reason behind his celebration.
In a video shared by LSG on social media, Nicholas Pooran asked the young spinner, "So tell me something. He doesn't celebrate. Why do you celebrate?"
To which, Rathi gave a hilarious response as he said, "I'm from Delhi."
Digvesh has been fined twice by the BCCI for his wild celebrations after taking a wicket. Earlier during the match against Punjab Kings, he made the notebook gesture after dismissing Priyansh Arya. During the match against Mumbai Indians, where he won the Player of the Match award, he did a similar celebration after taking the wicket of Naman Dhir.
Rathi was fined 25 percent of his match fees for his first offence, while he copped 50 percent penalty for his second offence.
