Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday, April 7, by 12 runs. Their star player Virat Kohli was seen celebrating with gusto while MI captain Hardik Pandya and star batter Rohit Sharma looked on in agony at the narrow loss.
This was the first time in 10 years that RCB had beaten MI in Mumbai in an IPL game. RCB stood tall in the end, after several twists and turns in the thrilling contest, as their bowlers held their nerves in the final overs to leave Wankhede with two crucial points.
RCB is now in the 3third spot on the IPL 2025 points table with three wins in four matches, while MI languishes at the eighth spot with just one win in five matches.
The Bengaluru-based club was ecstatic with the massive win, with former captain Virat Kohli roaring loudly in the middle of the pitch after MI lost Naman Dhir's wicket on the fifth delivery of the last over.
Krunal Pandya, who began his IPL career with MI, returned to torment his former side. He bowled a stunning final over and captured three wickets, leaving Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma in anguish while Kohli yelled in delight.

Virat Kohli scored a brilliant 67 with 8 fours and 2 sixes, while Rajat Patidar made 64 and Jitesh Sharma made 40* as RCB posted 221/5 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first.
In response, MI's top order got starts but couldn’t carry on. However, Tilak Varma (56) and Hardik Pandya (42) tried to take the game away from RCB. But they were dismissed just when MI seemed to be in control, and excellent death overs by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood helped Krunal Pandya bowl a tight last over to secure the win for RCB.
