Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have appointed Omkar Salvi as the new bowling coach of their men's side for the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Salvi will be taking over the reins from Australian Adam Griffith, who coached the bowling unit previously.

A former Railways cricketer, Salvi coached Mumbai to their first Ranji Trophy title in eight years. Then under his guidance, Mumbai also won the Irani Cup clash against the Rest of India. The 46-year-old was also part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) coaching staff when they won the IPL 2024 season.

As Salvi prepares for his task at RCB, his brief stint with KKR continues to be his only IPL experience. After the current Indian domestic season concludes, he is anticipated to begin his work for the RCB franchise.

Salvi's signing thrilled RCB's Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, who hopes the Mumbaikar can be instrumental in turning around the team's fortunes as it attempts to win the coveted IPL crown.

An effective T20 team must have a potent bowling attack and coaching staff, and Bobat anticipates that Salvi's addition will help in that area.

"We're thrilled to welcome Omkar Salvi as RCB's Bowling Coach. With his vast experience, especially in developing fast bowlers, and proven success at the domestic and IPL levels, he's the perfect fit for our coaching team. Omkar's technical expertise, local knowledge, and leadership will add huge value to our squad and environment," Bobat said.

Salvi will be reuniting with Dinesh Karthik at RCB after the latter was appointed the team's batting coach and mentor for 2025. The pair have previously worked together in IPL.

RCB recently announced they had retained Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The IPL 2025 auction will be held over two days, on November 24 and 25, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
