Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) had a decent season in the IPL 2024, making it into the playoffs. On the other hand, Punjab Kings (PBKS) faltered after getting a decent start. They failed to string together a sequence of wins to have an impact on the tournament.
The BCCI had set an October 31 deadline for all ten teams to submit their lists of retained players for the IPL Auction 2025. Each team can keep six players in their squad ahead of the IPL Auction 2025.
They can even keep select players with the Right To Match option during the action. Only five of these six players can be capped, with two remaining uncapped.
List of retained players by RCB:
The RCB franchise had one big question, whether to retain Faf du Plessis or not. South Africa just turned 40 and despite his fitness, the mega auctions are seen as franchises to think of the future.
RCB only had one sure shot retention and that is Virat Kohli. Apart from that if Kohli doesn’t become captain again, RCB will be looking for a new skipper in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
However, in their final announcement for retention, RCB has revealed that they have also retained batter Rajat Patidar and left-arm pacer Yash Dayal.
List of retained players by PBKS:
Punjab Kings had reportedly decided to go to the IPL 2025 with a clean slate and decided to retain only two players, both uncapped.
Shashank Singh, who lit up the IPL 2024 with his scintillating cameos, and Prabhsimran Singh, who has been a consistent performer as an opener and backup keeper, are the names retained by PBKS for INR 4 crore each.
The PBKS franchise will have the biggest purse in the IPL 2025 auction at with over 110 Crs in their kitty.
