IPL 2024 champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have finally unveiled their player retentions ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

The BCCI had set an October 31 deadline for all ten teams to submit their lists of retained players for the IPL Auction 2025. Each team can keep six players in their squad ahead of the IPL Auction 2025.

They can even keep select players with the Right To Match option during the action. Only five of these six players can be capped, with two remaining uncapped.

List of retained players by KKR:

KKR won its third IPL title and first since 2014 under Shreyas Iyer's captaincy and the guidance of mentor Gautam Gambhir.

A huge surprise is that KKR has let go of their IPL-winning captain Shreyas Iyer. Iyer, who had missed the IPL 2023 due to injury, came back in 2024 and led the purple and gold franchise to their third IPL title.

KKR has retained Rinku Singh as their first retention for INR 13 crores. Their other 3 capped retentions are Sunil Narine, Andre Russell and Varun Chakaravarthy (INR 12 Cr each). Harshit Rana and Ramandeep Singh are KKR's two uncapped retentions for INR 4 Cr each.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals (RR) had a straightforward decision when it came to deciding which players they would retain. However, in a surprise, Jos Buttler was not retained by RR and it seems they will go the RTM card way for the England white-ball captain in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

As for RR's retentions, captain Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been retained by INR 18 Cr each. Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel have been retained for INR 14 Cr each. Shimron Hetmyer (INR 11 Cr) and Sandeep Sharma (INR 4 Cr-uncapped) round off RR's retentions for IPL 2025.
