All the IPL franchises had a deadline to submit their final list of retained players for the upcoming mega auction by Thursday (October 31).
The teams were allowed to retain up to six players, of which a maximum of five can be capped internationals and two can be uncapped players.
While the IPL had set minimum deductions from the auction purse of INR 120 crore for each player retained - INR 18 crore for the first player, INR 14 crore for the second, INR 11 crore for the third, INR 18 crore for the fourth, INR 14 crore for the fifth, and INR 4 crore for an uncapped player - the franchises were free to divide the retention purse of INR 75 crore in any way they see fit.
List of retained players by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):
Nicholas Pooran, Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi along with the uncapped pair of Mohsin Khan and Ayush Badoni have been retained by the Lucknow Super Giants for IPL 2025.
KL Rahul, who has led the franchise since its inception in 2022, was the notable snub in the retention list.
LSG spent a total of INR 51 crore on their five retentions. The Super Giants now have INR 69 crore left in their kitty for the grand auction, where they can use the RTM card to get a player back into their squad.
List of retained players by Delhi Capitals (DC):
Skipper Rishabh Pant’s omission headlined Delhi Capitals' list of retained players. The franchise decided to retain India all-rounder Axar Patel, star spinner Kuldeep Yadav, South Africa all-rounder Tristan Stubbs and uncapped Indian wicket-keeper batter Abhishek Porel.
Porel was roped in as a replacement for Pant in IPL 2023 when the latter missed the entire season after a horrific car accident.
The DC management reportedly didn’t want to let go of Rishabh Pant but were convinced he cannot be the captain of the team. The wicketkeeper-batter wanted captaincy and thus a deal couldn’t be pulled off.
By retaining these four players, the Capitals subtracted a total of INR 43.75 crore from their overall purse of INR 120 crore. DC will have two RTM card options at the mega auction.
