A video featuring former Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) assistant coach Abhishek Nayar took the internet by storm last week.

In the viral footage, the two could be heard talking about 'things changing'. When the video was about to finish, Rohit also said that "it's his last".

Though the conversation wasn’t clearly audible, fans speculated that Rohit and Nayar were talking about the current situation at Mumbai Indians, particularly Hardik Pandya's appointment as skipper.

Days later, KKR CEO Venky Mysore downplayed the viral conversation between Rohit and Nayar, saying that both have been good friends for a long time and it was a deliberate attempt to create mischief.

"I didn't even know about it, I think it's just a storm in a teacup. They have been good friends since god knows how long and someone has done something there just to create some mischief. I talked to both of them, they were talking about something else. Some people just have too much time on their hands," Mysore said in a podcast with RevSportz.

Some fans alleged that KKR had deleted the video of Rohit and Nayar’s chat after uploading it on social media platform X.

"Ek ek cheez change ho raha hai...Woh unke upar hai...Jo bhi hai woh mera ghar hai bhai, woh temple jo hai na maine banwaya hai (Everything is changing one by one... It's on them... Whatever, but it's my home brother, it's the temple that I constructed)," Rohit was heard saying in the video.

The last audible line in the chat was, "Bhai mera kya mera to ye last hai (brother, this is my last anyway)."

The conversation sparked speculation among fans about Rohit Sharma potentially leaving MI ahead of the 2025 season.

Notably, Rohit Sharma and Abhishek Nayar share a strong bond since their Mumbai domestic cricket days. Nayar is also credited with playing a key role in Rohit's comeback into the Indian team after 2011 World Cup snub.
