Virat Kohli starring Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) continued their winning ways as they defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 47 runs in their recent IPL 2024 match in Bengaluru on May 12.

RCB have made quite a turnaround after winning just one of their first seven matches. But the three-time runner-up scripted a stunning turnaround in the following half of the 2024 IPL season, winning five straight matches, to have fate back in their hands.

On Sunday, RCB handed a drubbing to DC and moved to fifth spot in the points table and are on verge of pulling off what looked improbable for them about a month back. They will next face Chennai Super Kings at home, a win by a decent margin could see them through to the playoffs.

Rajat Patidar’s brilliant 52 and Will Jacks’ 41 were the cornerstone of RCB’s 187/9 in 20 overs. In response, Delhi's top order looked clueless, losing four wickets inside the first four overs. Though Akshar Patel played a valiant knock of 57, DC folded for 141 runs and lost by 47 runs.

As soon as Yash Dayal picked the final DC wicket, Bollywood actress and wife of Kohli, Anushka Sharma, who was present in the stands throughout the course of the game, was left ecstatic, but only reacted with a 'Thank God' gesture at RCB staying alive in the race to the playoffs.
