Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Virat Kohli not only excelled with the bat in his team’s recent IPL 2024 match against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamshala on May 9 but was also brilliant in the field as well, affecting a brilliant run-out.
He scored a brilliant 92 with 7 fours and 6 sixes to propel RCB to 241/7. Rajat Patidar (55) and Cameron Green (46) also contributed to the above-par total.
In reply, Punjab Kings lost wickets at regular intervals. Only Rilee Russouw (67) and Shashank Singh (37), apart form Jonny Bairstow’s 27 could manage to put on substantial scores for Punjab, as they only managed 181 runs and lost the game by 60 runs.
Shashank Singh was the last hope for PBKS’s chances, but in the 14th over, he was brilliantly run out by Virat Kohli. Sam Curran who was on strike in the fourth delivery of the 14th over, received a hard-length delivery at the stumps from Ferguson. He guided it through midwicket, going for a single, and then called for a double.
Shashank responded, but Virat Kohli ran in from the boundary and picked and threw the ball at the stumps in a swift motion. The ball hit the stumps directly and replays found that Shashank was short of the crease and was sent on his way to the pavilion.

This runout by Virat Kohli was loved by the RCB fans on social media. They were amazed that even at the age of 35, Kohli is so fit and agile that he anticipated a chance to run out and charge in from the boundary to collect the ball. He was off balance when he threw the ball and managed a direct hit as well.
