Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star Virat Kohli put on a show with the bat in Match 58 of the IPL 2024 season against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamsala on Thursday (May 9).

Opening the innings, Kohli took a bit of time to get his eyes in before he launched a brutal assault on the PBKS bowling attack.

The right-hander notched up his half-century in 32 deliveries and then started dealing in boundaries. He looked all set for yet another IPL hundred but a mistimed shot off Arshdeep Singh saw him losing his wicket on 92.

Kohli’s 47-ball knock was studded with 7 fours and 6 sixes. The highlight of his knock was a couple of sixes he hit against Sam Curran and Arshdeep.

In the second delivery of the 16th over, Kohli got down on one knee and smashed Curran’s slower delivery over mid-wicket for a 94-metre maximum. It was a shot played with some authority that also left the commentators in awe.

Virat Kohli produced another breathtaking stroke two over later as he opened his bat face and guided the short ball from Arshdeep over backward point for a well-timed six.

Coming to the match, RCB racked up a mammoth 241/7 on the board after being asked to bat first. Besides Kohli, the likes of Rajat Patidar (55 off 23), Cameron Green (46 off 27) and Dinesh Karthik (18 off 7) returned with vital contributions with the bat.
